In the vanguard of British free improvisation, saxophonist Trevor Watts celebrates his 80th birthday in 2019.
Watts was a founding member of The Spontaneous Music Ensemble, has worked in Amalgam, Moire Music Group and The Drum Orchestra, collaborated with Don Cherry, Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, Steve Swallow, Cyro Baptista and Stan Tracey and worked on commissioned and educational projects, international tours and recordings.
A seminal musical career will be celebrated on the festival stage with his stellar band John Edwards (bass) Mark Sanders (drums) and his long-time collaborator Veryan Weston (piano).
