Inspired by The Damned at the birth of British Punk, the U.K. Subs were formed by Charlie Harper in 1976. Starting out asThe Subversives, the name was shortened to The Subs and then changed to U.K. Subs, with the prefix taken from the first Sex Pistols single "Anarchy In The U.K".
After independently releasing the "C.I.D." single in 1978 the band signed to RCA and had a string of seven consecutive top 30 singles including "Stranglehold", "Tomorrow's Girls", "She's Not There", "Warhead", "Teenage" and more. Both LP's "Brand New Age" and "Crash Course" went into the UK top 10 charts too.
The Defects hail from Belfast, Northern Ireland and formed originally in 1978. After their debut single "Dance until you Drop" they were signed to WXYZ Records and toured with label-mates the Anti-Nowhere League, The Clash, 999 and The Meteors before splitting in 1984.
