James Barney Cobb, Jr. (born 5 February 1944, Birmingham, Alabama) is an American guitarist who has played with the Classics IV, who had a #3 US/#46 UK hit with "Spooky" in 1968. He joined the Atlanta Rhythm Section in early 1972. They had a #7 US hit with "So Into You" in 1977. Cobb currently resides in Monticello, Georgia, also the home town of Trisha Yearwood, and across the road from former wrangler and American antique truck restorer Joe Walberg. James Cobb wrote six gold hits for Dennis Yost & the Classics IV prior to joining the Atlanta Rhythm Section, for whom he authored and co-authored numerous additional hit records. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1993, and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1997, where he received the Music Creator's Award.
