    Important Information

    BOOKING PERIOD: Friday 31 July 2020 - Saturday 19 September 2020

PERFORMANCE TIMES: Monday - Saturday: 7.45pm, Thursday & Saturday: 2.15pm

RUNNING TIME: 2hrs 50mins (including one interval)

Every theatre performance is unique, but this is especially the case at the Open Air Theatre where both the stage and entire auditorium are uncovered.

Each visit can be distinctly different as the weather and light spontaneously interact with the play. Warm or cool, clear or overcast, the point at which dusk turns to night, being outdoors adds a thrilling contribution to our work and is an integral part of your experience here. Some of our audience's favourite memories have been of the sun breaking through the clouds during the show whilst some of the most electric performances happen in the wake of rainfall.

It's best to come prepared for all types of weather: bringing your own shade in the afternoon is particularly important as is a jumper for the end of evening performances. So sun hats, sun cream, sunglasses, raincoats and rain hats should all be considered. Although the vast majority of performances are completed each year, as the auditorium and stage are completely uncovered, we may have to stop and re-start the show.

On rare occasions, it will not be possible for us to complete the performance, but we will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time. This is because you would be amazed how often it can rain all day and then clear up just in time for the action to start and indeed, how localised bad weather can be. Also we really don't want to disappoint anyone - audiences or our actors (who are always keen to perform, if at all possible).

Please note that films and one-off live music and comedy shows are never cancelled because of the weather.

Tickets are non-refundable in the event of cancellation because of the weather but may be exchanged in accordance with our policy set out in section 5 of our Terms and Conditions [to be hyperlinked].

    When you're ready to exchange:

    You can either:

    (a) use the weather exchange postcard which will be provided to you at the venue in the event that a show is cancelled;

    (b) complete the online form available at; or

    (c) write to: Weather Exchange, Regent's Park Theatre Ltd, Stage Door Gate, Open Air Theatre, Inner Circle, Regent's Park, London, NW1 4NU, stating your original booking order number, name, address and preferred date you wish to exchange into.

    Important Venue Information

The theatre is located in Queen Mary's Gardens, on the Inner Circle of Regent's Park and consequently is surrounded entirely by parkland. It is completely uncovered; the only sheltered area being underneath the tiered auditorium, which houses one of the longest bars of any theatre in London - stretching the entire length of the seating. A selection of pre-theatre dining options are available throughout the season including Gin Experiences, Picnics, Luxury Champagne Hampers, The Grill ? their burger outlet ? and Covered Dining where you can pre-book to be served dinner before the performance, with coffee and dessert served in the interval. The theatre also boasts its own picnic lawn with tables for the audience to bring their own food. The theatre houses an extensive backstage area complete with green room for the company and technical team, a full wardrobe, makeup and wigs department, a workshop and paintshop for the creation and maintenance of stage sets and numerous offices for stage management, sound, LX and other crew. The theatre is a registered charity, run by an Artistic Director Timothy Sheader and Executive Director William Village. The charity's Board of Trustees is chaired by Councillor Robert Davis MBE DL, and includes Sir Peter Rogers, Tyrone Huntley, Samantha Spiro, Anna Fleischle and William Village. The theatre's Patron is Dame Judi Dench.

Accessibility Wheelchair Access The theatre is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Spaces in the auditorium for wheelchair users and their companions can be booked in advance with the Open Air Theatre Box Office.

Hearing SystemsAn FM assisted listening system is available for people with hearing impairments. Please request a handset from the venue.

Captioned performancesSelected captioned performances are available at the venue.Similar to subtitles used in film, they are captioned live by Stagetext so that the text runs at the same speed as the actors on stage.

Audio description Selected audio described performances are available at the venue. They capture the visual elements of a production by describing the key visual elements of the performance, thereby giving blind or partially sighted individuals a richer experience.

BSL interpretation Selected BSL performances are available at the venue. A BSL interpreter will interpret the spoken and heard aspects of the performance.

Guide Dogs Guide dogs are welcome and can be looked after if required. General Access Info To book a disabled space or for more information, please call 0333 320 2834.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So glad we made it! We booked these tickets as a birthday treat for me and almost never got there due to an unforeseen circumstance. However, we made it and, despite having spent one of the most uncomfortable 3 hours I can remember for a long time in a cramped seat I did thoroughly enjoy the show. The orchestra were amazing, and the whole cast put in great performances. I just love anything that Alfie Boe does and whilst his acting skills may need a little more work his vocals were on top form. Katherine Jenkins was apparently suffering from a sore throat but you wouldn't have known! The seats we had were not the best in the house (upper circle) and I could only just see the performers on the stage, not to mention a huge person sitting in front of me almost entirely blocking my view of everything else! If I were to visit the Coliseum again I fear I would need to pay the extortionate sums requested to sit in the front stalls!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok Did not know anything about the play, but could not empathise with the main characters at all. Professional performance by all. Seats reall uncomfortable, seat does not rise so you have to go along the line if someone wanted to get by. No leg room very uncomfortable so you were wishing the time away, a great shame. I'm 57 and felt I was the youngest there.
