What people are saying about Anna Von Hausswolff

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revolution in my soul !!! Jo Quail ,Goddess of Cello for starters !!! Opium for all senses, such passion and true talent ... It was my first time with both of them, but it doesn't matter as I sense an authentic phenomena when it manifests itself. And it was there. Magic Is Not Dead! Ps I got a chance to meet them too after the show ... BRILLIANT MAGNIFICENT !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fantastical communal event I went with a couple of friends who I had introduced to Anna’s music and whilst it is beautiful on record the intensity of the experience was quite phenomenal and unexpected. A rare treat I cannot recommend highly enough. See her while she is still playing small venues

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extraordinary artist, amazing music, astounding voice! One of the most extraordinary gigs i have seen for years. She was absolutely awesome, mesmerising, astonishing. The music was so powerful, her keyboard work created music from another level supported by a brilliant band... and her voice, from one so slight and elfen, shook the Dome to its roots. A unique, original artist with huge talent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not seen either performers before Only recently heard of Anna and thought getting there in good time would be an idea as Jo Quail sounded interesting, in support. A marvellous evening in a rather good old scohol venue

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dramatic darkness at the Dome First something must be said about the support act Jo Quail who was a superb choice for what was to follow. Jo played just 3 tunes over 30 minutes using only an electric cello and some loop pedals but produced a sound of wonder that was very filmic in its nature.- The music built up in layers with Jo extracting sounds from the cello in a delightful non conventional way finally engulfing the audience in an epic sonic extravaganza. She reminded us all her pieces that evening were short and listening to her latest CD later longer pieces only add to the overall appeal. Jo took the time to talk to people after the concert and her work is well worth seeking out. Then there was a half hour break between acts and as 9:30 approached the excitement became tangible. The time arrived and the venue became silent but we had to wait a few minutes more and then it began. What followed was a dark and dramatic set based on her new album ‘Dead Magic’ with Anna’s haunting voice layered over an engrossing low frequency sound comparable, to me anyway, to Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It should be said that Anna’s singing has gone from being wonderful to now being electrifying, she really needs to be heard in the flesh and the performance at the Dome is one most people there probably will remember for a very long time. The performance was not flawless but these were of a technical nature and were quickly sorted and no one really cared as what was being presented was just simply amazing. The whole set was way longer than the record as many of the tunes had been extended to good effect. And then the band left the stage. The band re-appeared for the encore, where was Anna? Anna is not very tall and she had joined the audience at the front and started singing Gösta, she was hidden from sight for most people but this did not matter. Slowly Anna walked through from the front to the back stopping from time to time singing this song and gave one lucky gentleman a hug. It was one of the best things I have seen for a long time. Overall an astonishing performance and not surprisingly it was a full house.
