Sonic Surrealism at Electrowerkz
Audiobooks consists of Evangeline Ling and David Wrench and I had seen them before supporting Lets Eat Grandma at The Lightbox, they were stunning then and decided to see them again. They are very distinctive and highly entertaining with a surreal outlook and basically mind boggling songs, there really is nothing to dislike. David sat surrounded by a vast array of synths with his long white hair as if he was a wizard in his musical lair while Evangeline had an fabulous white dress and the furry boots from the Hot Salt video. Their set was long and Evangeline was very animated, ia a good way, in her presentation and delivery. The audience was agog. All in all they were mind blowing.
I did not time or count how many songs but we were entertained for a wonderful period but as with all good things we came to the end finishing off with Hot Salt, the venue then exploded with applause.
There were two support acts, first we had PDA who were a three piece electro synth band who delivered a wonderful half hour set of acoustic pleasure. Next was Zohara from Isrealwho had a laptop and a keyboard and that was it but produced an amazing set of her electro experimental pop. She projected an amazing vocal performance singing at the front of the stage to everyone's delight. Both support acts were much better than normal and are well worth checking out.

Too old for such things
Good album.....so so live.
Turn it up for a start. All a bit twee and knowing. Warmed up as the gig progressed but I couldn't help but be disappointed.

Breaking the mold
Words to describe the experience of seeing Audiobooks fail me, because it was so different to the usual Indie based gigs I tend to go to. Being so quirky is probably one of the reasons why it was also so memorable. Not having listned to any of Audiobooks music before, it took a little time for me to warm up the eccentric duo and their leftfield sounds... But by the end of the performance I was completely beguiled, as were most of the audience who were nearly all dancing. Completely out of the box but brilliant and mesmerising to watch.
