What people are saying about Beirut

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best live bands I've ever seen Just so incredible. I'll never forget this night. His voice and the band are just in tune

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Whimsy, the Smiths and tijuana Beirut consists of a songwriter, (I think his name is Corndon), who plays ukulele and trumpet, a second trumpet player, a trombone, a keyboard player, drummer and bassist, who also plays an acoustic guitar on some tracks. Corndon writes whimsical songs, with odd titles like Nantes, Gibraltar, and earlier in his career, March of the Zapotec. His vocal style is unusual - and the nearest I can come up with is Morrisey from the Smiths. the notes seem stretched out across several bars of music. This is not a guitar group - Corndon often introduces a song with the ukulele and then swaps to the trumpet. The brass takes the lead, sometimes in a Tex-Mex style, sometimes Tijuana, sometimes, on instrumentals a jazz style. The high points for me were Nantes, and Post Cards from Italy and the encore which included several songs. It was good to see a young audience and the venue. Evidence that despite or perhaps because of his oddities Corndon can reach out beyond the established rock and pop audiences. The Albert Hall was very pleasant, (a baroque Victorian Gothic musical theatre with the largest pipe-organ I have seen).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth it! I've never really listen to these guys before, however my friend is obsessed with them so when she asked me to join her and go see them I agreed. The show sold out so we got into the venue (The Albert Hall in Manchester) on time and found a good spot. The show was great. The band showed a lot of energy and even despite very modest lightning delivered a great performance. Me and my friend danced all the way through and were happy to see them playing for over an hour. Great experience and I'd definitely go see them again.
