What people are saying about Black Midi

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Possibly the best gig I have ever seen After finishing up album material, black midi decided to flow straight into about 30 minutes of psychedelic techno and I absolutely lost it! One of the best live bands out there right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black midi city 10/10/10/10 great venue for a band that caters to their loud, abrasive style. The stage almost had a 360 view and you need to see that drummer go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real live experience Unbelievably good. The setting at Notts contempary made it feel like a school btec music assessment, but you're witnessing a band of triple distinction students who play far an above their youth. Morgan Simpson is already setting himself out to be one of the best drummers to come through on a generation, watching his foot pedal blast through the set was mesmerising Kudos to the rest of the band, they have a real identity and will no doubt grow into the best live act Britain has produced this century so far. All in all, go see Black Midi even if you've not decided what you feel about them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool. Very cool. Great gig, great band. Feel fortunate to of seen them early in their career, refreshingly arrogant & cool. It’s not all “we love our fans so much” type of band, it is amazingly well played music from a band that has every right to go far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took a Chance on Band New to Me Good to see The Joiners so full. This made for a good Sunday night out and an end to Independent Venue Week. Jerskin Fendrix (support) was also worth seeing. Quite an interesting find and appropriate for the main act. Black Midi are clearly a band with some interesting ideas. Intro to some songs recalls free jazz and possibly, outfits like Henry Cow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Energetic band, boring audience I went to this event having already seen black midi at simple things. Support for black midi was very different to the style of music black midi played so I found that a bit odd. The venue is great for what are small intense shows. What let the event down was the audience. I was at the front to where I thought the gun would be. What actually was there was a bunch of UoB hipsters who pushed there way to the front to hardly nod their head. Dead crowd. Big Jeff was there rocking though so not all that bad. Look forward to seeing black midi again
