Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blaenavon are ready to fly Having been following Blaenavon, since their days at Southsea Festival many years ago, it was great to see how they have now matured into polished performers. These days Ben seems a lot more relaxed onstage and their songs have benefited from this. This gig, at Guildford's Boiler room, was almost a local event for these Liphook boys and the crowd were certainly up for it. The band played a mix of their older songs, such as 'Lets pray' and 'My bark is your bite' which were sung back vociferously by melting throng, as well as giving us a taster of their new material. If tonight's show was anything to go by Blaenavon are ready to take centre stage with these new songs and have earned the right to be headlining much larger venues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another crazy Blaenavon gig!! The Boileroom is a fantastic intimate venue that gets very cosy when the temperatures rise. Our fourth visit to see the boys and again we’ll worth it for a low entry price. Great energy as always, superb melodies and riffs and loads of moshing and crowd surfers from the energetic. There is nothing like doing a local gig (Ben comes from Liphook) but the ‘big one’ will come soon. Can’t wait for the new album. They really are worth a look. Enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last minute gig, was not disappointed. I have been to The Arches before to see my brother’s band play, and was impressed by the feel of the place. Blaenavon blew me away though, busier than I thought for an impromptu gig in the midlands, and great support. Can see all 3 bands being major players in the Uk indie scene in the next 5-10 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blaenavon superb in St Albans Blaenavon started their new UK tour after a break of a year at The Horn in St Albans, a venue that seems to attract some very good artists. I had not seen them before nor had I heard any of their music but had seen loads of their posters around so thought I really ought to check them out, I am so glad I did. Their idiosyncratic sound is hard to describe though indie rock would be a fair description. I was right at the very front which was a good place to be as the venue was packed, others present had travelled from all over the place including someone from Gibraltar! They came on at 9:30 and played an incredibly good set for the next 45 minutes with the crowd, who it must be said was quite a bit younger than normal, went wild with excitement and it is a good job the venue had a robust floor with all the dancing moshing etc. taking place. Everyone present it seemed, apart from me, knew their songs so much singing along took place. They then left the stage. After a short break they returned to the stage for the encore, this lasted another 15 minutes and the crowd loved it finally finishing off with a tune, and knowing nothing about the band I was not au fait with, which resulted in thunderous applause. A superb show, Support was from Winnipeg band Boniface. They toured with Lets Eat Grandma in the US and were very good indeed. I don’t think anyone present knew who they were but I am sure afterwards they had a lot of new fans. A young lady in the audience shouted ‘That was buitiful’ after one song which resulted I rapturous applause from everyone else as she was so right. They are a band well worth checking out.

The crowd although are pretty rowdy so be prepared to be pushed and shoved quite a bit!! Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite gig of the year! This gig was amazing! The crowd were really hyped up for this one and certainly fed into the band who gave their best performance so far! Size of venue was perfect for this band, but suspect they will soon need a bigger venue!
