Calva Louise lovely at The Lexingto
Calva Louise were the headline act at the BBC Introducing show which is presented each month at The Lexington in Islington. They must be one of the most diverse bands currently inn the UK with their vocalist Jess being from Venezuela and the other two from New Zealand and England and naturally they are the UK arm of Chinese label Modern Sky! They produce super catchy grunge pop bombarding the audience with a barrage of exiting raucous tunes. They played an amazing set of 10 songs with a couple of interludes and then they left the stage, clearly no one present was going to accept this and they returned for an encore of one more song. It was truly magical.
Support was first from Fuzzy Sun from Stockport, and they kept reminding us they were from Stockport, who are a five piece pop band who were superb. Then we had FEET who were another five piece band this time I think from Coventry who had a wonderful indie garage rock sound. Bothe support acts were excellent and certainly worth seeing.
