What people are saying about Cat Power

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More Than the Usual Cat Power Show Cat Power isn't renowned for her stagecraft and interaction with the audience but if you were prepared for her erratic behaviour and just wanted to listen to her astounding voice then this show delivered. With no apparent set list she played for a lot longer than is apparently usual. As Cat Power shows go, this was a good one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best! Cat Power was amazing live at the Concorde Brighton... she sang and sang and sang without a break, one song into another which was unusually frustrating because I was busting to clap and show my appreciation. She first played the guitar, then the piano...she has an amazingly beautiful voice, it was captivating..then towards the end she spoke to the audience about her childhood and let us know a little about her, she was open and funny and lovely. At the end of the gig she thanked us for letting her be herself and my heart melted. What a brilliant gig it was, I felt lucky to have experienced the wonderful woman that is the Cat Power. Thank you x

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sound check? I went to this gig because I'd been wanting to try the Albert hall for awhile and Cat Power was the first act there I wanted to see. The venue is nice, in a church hall kind of way. The support act was a woman with a heavy French accent, reading her songs from pieces of paper while accompanied by a small machine which played various backing tracks. Her voice wasn't the best and some of her songs were very literal, but she had charm and got generous applause. Cat Power has a much better voice, but I'd say the set was rambling to say the least. She put out a request for a man for the night and told a long story about not meeting John Lee Hooker when she realised she had ten minutes to kill. Overall it felt like listening to Carol King tracks which didn't make the album or someone tuning their guitar for two hours. At the end she just stopped, but it didn't feel like an encore kind of show. Funnily enough it was quite enjoyable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A bizzare show in a beautiful venue I have wanted to see Cat Power for years, my friend had seen her play before and said the performance was great. Unfortunately Cat Power seemed distracted and extremely nervous throughout the performance at the Albert hall (understandable though if she's just had a baby and hasn't toured for so long) but it was a bit like a dress rehearsal or warm up. She does have an incredible and haunting voice.
