Very disappointed by the quality of the music. I have been to this event in previous years and it was much better. In the past a selection of good guest performers came on (with little or their own backing) and did well-known songs (Eg Bootleg Blondie, Peter Hammerton). This year there seemed to be fewer decent guests, most of the backing was done by the All-stars and there were fewer well known songs.. When the All stars were all on the sound quality was poor - there were too many instruments, and inaudible vocalists. There were a few exceptions - see favorite moments below but mostly it was poor.
When Don Craine took over the organistion of the Christmas events they got much better than previously when Tom Nolan was doing it. But this year was like the old Tom Nolan days with too many musician on stage making a lot of noise, and poor quality music.
Get more quality guests, ask them to do songs we all know, and minimise their backing to give them a chance to be heard. It doesnt all have to be 12 bar blues.
