More Information about David Baddiel My Family: Not The Sitcom

David Baddiel My Family: Not The Sitcom

Following a sold out run at London's Menier Chocolate Factory and two critically-acclaimed West End runs, David Baddiel takes his Olivier-nominated one-man show to theatres nationwide. My Family: Not the Sitcom is a show about memory, ageing, infidelity, dysfunctional relatives, moral policing on social media, golf, and gay cats. A massively disrespectful celebration of the lives of David Baddiel's late sex-mad mother, Sarah, and dementia-ridden father, Colin. Come and be offended on David's behalf!

What people are saying about David Baddiel My Family: Not The Sitcom

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honest, Funny and Insightful Evening My wife and I went to see Davd Baddiel at the Crewe Lyceum talking about his family and in the main his parents. The evening was funny and emotional with David talking honestly about his mother's long term affair and his father's dementia. It was not a typical comedy show but thought provoking and you came away thinking about your own family as well as David's. There was plenty of humour in the show though and David is an entertaining speaker who holds the attention of his audience. I would recommend this show with resonance particularly to those who can share the experience of dealing with their parents growing old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant David Baddiel,s story telling was full of honesty, warmth and humour. A really must see show. This was not my first time of seeing the show and he honestly deserves an award for being so open about real life issues happening in his life. A must see show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extraordinary insight into another families history Not really knowing what to expect I think we all were entertained and even shocked by the travails of the Baddiel family. Exposure of "social media" and its eccentricity by a regular user was also funny but informative. A great evening overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Funny, moving and important evening Baddiel's candid account of his family, particularly his parents, is simultaneously hilarious and poignant. He assures us that everything is true and that the material continues to move him; I believe him wholeheartedly. Well illustrated by anecdote and image, Baddiel's masterly storyteller account of his mother's long affair and his father's curmudgeonly behavior is underpinned with a respect, a love, for his unique family. In telling us tales which induce both belly laughs and tears he encourages us to look afresh at our own unique relatives. A wonderful evening which will stay with me for a considerable time.
