Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reflection of life As the title says, this concert for me was just like seeing life itself, straight in front of me. This was my first ever Dir en grey concert, and in my opinion, its beginning was bomb, but unfortunately the event soon got plagued by multiple technical issues, to the point where they had to rearrange the set list in order to carry on playing. It may sound like what should be a negative experience, but to me, it was like a reflection of life itself. Dir en Grey's music can have both harsh, brutal sounds, as well as a very soft melody, and these felt like what life tends to be - good moments, harsh moments, anger, soothing calm... I could go on and on. The technical difficulties faced brought out frustration from both the band members and some fans alike, but just like in life, it's not the frustration or the problem itself as much as the way you go on with it that counts. I've seen a mic drop, I've seen the frustration in Kyo's eyes, I've seen the shame in Shinya's body language whenever he would walk off stage, but I cannot help but be mesmerised by the way they fought back, by how they materialised the emotions of that night in music itself, and how, just like in life, they clapped back at the issues and hardships and kept fighting for what they loved. It's a band that I highly recommend seeing live, and it's a band I would definitely want to go to another show for again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A valiant effort from the band, sadly undone by technical troubles. This was my 5th time seeing Dir en grey, my fiancee's 2nd and my two friends 1st experience with DEG. The band haven't come over to the UK for three years so we were all understandably excited. This was to be the show of the year... or so we thought. We got into the Venue (electric ballroom) swiftly and got merch and drinks very painlessly! There was no support and no music before the band who came on at around 8.30 to HUGE cheers from the crowd and they quickly blasted through 4 tracks, although we could tell something wasn't quite right (with The sound), and this was the point where the band first went off stage...around 10 or 15 minutes passed with no communication to the crowd who were patiently waiting... The band remerged and attempted another song, 10 seconds in, the band were clearly not happy. The guitarist walking off and vocalist dropping his Mic in frustration. This time we waited, and waited and waited.... 40 mins had passed with no announcement from the venue or the band. The crowd were very respectful and patient in waiting to see what was happening, with a lot of worry the show may be over. When the band made it back on stage the guitarist (Die) did say some worlds expressing how upset he and the band were, he was clearly affected by the ordeal. Now, to Dir en Greys credit they finished a (very much shortened) set like their lives depended on it and gave their all. And the crowd responded in a big way. When the lights went up there was a feel of confusion and frustration that we only got half a set from a band we have all waited 3 years at least to see. And the worry that we may not see them again for another 3. It's since transpired that the main problem was the band had no monitors so could not hear themselves/each other. Which is clearly a big struggle. The venue should be embarrassed that they allowed these issues to happen and that there was ZERO communication along the way. I feel for the band who gave 110% dispite everything and for the fans who might not see them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boosted my moral! Been havin a terrible time lately so me and my partner went to the live as a late birthday present, we also got VIP. The gig was amazing and had a real fun atmosphere, there were some technical problems (uncontrollable) but the guys all powered through the mishaps and made it a great night, it really boosted my moral after a rough few months! Kyo’s vocals will never cease to amaze me, and the theatrics are amazing, truly an unforgettable evening, i hope the band has fun in germany!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst gig experience ever! Biggest waste of money and time!! The songs that the band did manage to play were great! Unfortunately that was very few songs compared to what they should have played due to constant technical difficulties! The band left the stage on 3 separate occasions as a result! Leaving us all in the audience wondering what the heck was happening! Their backing tracks failed.... there were sound problems.... their lighting and backing screen playing videos wasn't even on for the last few tracks when they did eventually get back on stage! I don't know who's at fault for all this, if it was the venue or the bands crew! But I'm seriously disappointed by the whole experience! I've been a fan of the band for a long time and was really looking forward to this gig! But from standing watching an empty stage for about half an hour on one of the occasions the band had to stop to the rude security staff at the venue and the waste of my time and money on the gig! Who's knows how many years we'll have to wait for the band to come back to the uk aswell! It's a shame as the little they did manage to play was amazing but it should have been amazing the whole set for every song they should have played!!!
