DREAMS FROM THE PIT IN REMEMBRANCE - 11 NOVEMBER 2013 - FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY... With the voice of Sir Patrick Stewart Dreams from the Pit opens our eyes to the unseen wounds of war - the ones in our minds. Presented for one night only on Armistice Day, Monday 11 November, this special performance by Shadow Road Productions is in aid of the Armed Forces mental health charity Combat Stress. Dreams from the Pit combines a contemporary story about today's Afghan war veterans with war poetry from the last century, creating a poignant insight into the experiences of soldiers and their families. Its title comes from 'Does It Matter?', a candid WW1 poem about war injuries by Siegfried Sassoon. We are delighted to announce that the distinguished actor Sir Patrick Stewart, who is a supporter of Combat Stress, has lent his voice to the performance, by recording a poem featured in the show. Based on numerous interviews with veterans, their families and experts, Dreams from the Pit aims to raise awareness of mental health issues affecting Armed Forces veterans and their families today. Following the performance, BBC presenter Mike Williams will host a panel discussion with special guests: Andrew Cameron, Chief Executive, Combat Stress Jake Wood, Veteran and author of "Among You", living with PTSD. Dr Deirdre McManus, Kings Centre for Military Health Research. The show is performed and produced by a volunteer professional cast and crew. All proceeds go to Combat Stress. Please Note: Dreams from the Pit contains some strong language.
