Etta grows and evolves...
I've been following Etta for around six years now, and I have watched her grow and evolve as an artist, she has always had a beautiful voice, and has a positive outlook on life, so her music is infused by that, I struggle to think of another artist who live at least seems so connected to her songs. You hear of artists who hate that one track you love because they've had to sing it at every show for ten years... not Etta, you feel that she sings the songs she loves performing.
Why was this show different? Etta's largest audience ever, it has a capacity of around 1800, and felt pretty close to that, having seen Etta perform in bars, and pubs, it was great to appreciate her in a venue of this size, and the show was developed in scope (shout to Kate Bond.. who produced), from the bed on stage, to the lighting, the backing singers, Etta really brought her music and performance to the next level and as a long term fan, it's beautiful to see this evolution.
To the performance, the songs are intimate, and for the most part put you in the mood for love, whether that is yourself or another, whether it's falling in, or how to fall out of love for somebody bad for you, it runs through the spectrum, Etta goes through several changes of costume, from the opening wearing very little (for Seen But Never Heard), through to lingerie for the more intimate songs.. there really was a theme through the show...Etta really wants you to feel the mood and emotion of the songs, and it really does work, and feels exceptionally intimate, although she was singing to you alone..
I went away very happy (although had to leave before the end..), I would recommend catching Etta,
