Arriving and exiting are all one and the same - 'cept the stuff in between wherein tiredness ensues and one is left decrepit due to aforementioned latent tiredness or boozy musings and boozy social intermingling (sic).
I set off with high hopes r.e listening to some decent tunes and left the music hall totally bereft of any strength to even argue the cause of the fine music I had been listening to...
The names part Chimp and Pigsx7 were the reasons I made the trek to hear some noise rock group music. And the main reason I enjoyed said trek out in the wilds of deepest Preston - the vague hole betwixt the Lancashire of olde and the newly revamped Fylde coast - was, in the main, due to the above mentioned bands.
As for Blizzard - the evil is real I surmise - and I was left wondering which part of dubious Yorkshire the personnel had hailed from... Pah! spat a fan or a group member - said group and fan base melded into one impersonal onehead what with their kinky retro gimp masks and extended nods to such mask wearing aficionado rogues as The Residents & Kong... maybe even Gwar get a look in.... somewhere...
The bands never and didn't disappoint - in their desire to gel various sonic potions and resonant pox to ferment some noise and distorted coherence... and I am left to mention the main reason most of the Fylde coast entertained the notion of attending a concert fronted by a well mannered and polite bunch of lags who saw fit to, in their formative years, pick up a guitar or two and some stix - to make some noise pleasing to mine and your ears... Yes; both Blizzard and The Membranes were very well received - two ends of a regional underground still undiminished even after all these years... I was waxing lyrical regards The Membranes gigs performed atop car parks (in the style of Einsturzende Neubaten) in comparison to a Blizzard fronted event which was to be appreciated in the cosy confines of a building still graced by the great and good of a now defunkt music hall (the last vestige of punk) coupled sports personalities of years past...
It's only muzak John.
