What people are saying about Father John Misty

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Father John Misty, Edwin Collins, Hookworms and The Orielles at first Piece Hall live First event of its kind at the Piece Hall Halifax, absolutely beautiful setting as the Yorkshire hillside loomed in the background whilst the music was contained in a 18th century cloth hall, although nowadays since it's recent renovation styled like an Italian piazza. Josh Tillman brought his anxiety ridden wit with tone perfect renditions of tunes spanning the lifespan of his Father John Misty moniker, a performance with grandeur, but never seeped into silliness that can come with it as his strong songs were the true star of the show. Earlier on in the day Edwin Collins treated us to some lovely indie pop, a charming performer and I dare anybody not to want to dance to likes of 'rip it up'. It was the first time I'd seen the likes of Hookworms in daylight, more used to watching them dark clubs which suited the paranoid wall of sound that featured on their earlier albums, now their sound has blossomed into something more euphoric it's now a great time to see a band step out into light. The Oriellies are local heroes and seemly improving with every performance. The evidently youthful band are maturing with every chord struck becoming tighter as a unit whilst still been playful performers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful from start to finish Beautiful setting, first time I’ve been to the Piece Hall in Halifax, such a lovely setting to hold events. Edwin Collins was inspiring, his performance didn’t lack anything. FJM was a treat live too, he even mingled with the crowd before his set. Poignant moment remembering the Frightened Rabbit lead singer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m in love .... Father John Misty sings like an angel and dances like the devil... he’s sexy and funny and a performer in the truest sense of the world. The gig was amazing - if you ever get the chance to see him live you should do it; go be in the presence of your own personal God with a Guitar ☺️

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A stunning venue and vocal The venue was simply stunning, both visually and acoustically. All the acts were very good, Father John Mistys vocal range was amazing. The only negative points on the day were the length of queues for the food and the toilets, I get they are new to staging music events but more thought needs to go in to these areas. Also, I was a bit disappointed that Frightened Rabbit weren’t replaced after the tragic death of their lead singer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Up with the best father John misty performance I arrived at event with my partner and promptly had our food taken from us by security had to throw it away loads of homeless tramps in town hungry what a wastethen forced to wait in a que for an hour to buy rubbish food at over inflated prices as was the beer not allowed out to get food trapped in the peace hall I wouid like my money back because of this security not very nice people father John and hookworms saved the day the organisers need to think about next event carefully as taking food from people is stealing no mention of no food allowed on ticket what a ridiculous set up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fan dabby pappa Fantastic venue, with fantastic organisation. We travelled by train from Manchester on a rail strike day to find that Piece Hall had put on buses to Huddersfield. Above and beyond, really good of them.
