What people are saying about FISH

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fish & Doris Brendel at The Islington Assembly Hall 17/12/17 The original support band Lazuli was the sole reason for buying tickets for this gig as I knew nothing of Fish beyond his Marillion days & little of that; when they had to cancel I was considering not going. However their replacement, Doris Brendel & her band, + Fish & his band proved worthy of the ticket price. The backdrop visuals were effective, the sound quality was better than the previous week at (with IQ), & the atmosphere just as convivial. Sadly quite a few people who had booked access seating (where I was with a broken ankle) did not show up but that meant I could be guaranteed a good view as I had a while row to myself & could move about. The kind attention from the staff & the jolly merchandise sellers enhanced the whole experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great...apart from the banter. Great gig apart from the anti - trump, anti-brexit, and yet pro free speech statements, which nobody thankfully responded too. We may have in Islington, but this southern crowd didn't buy it?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Straws Left To Clutch A big mistake to revisit “Clutching At Straws”, and to perform all the songs from it. His voice was pretty poor (why else would it be so low in the mix, and the female backing singer so high?) and clearly struggling with his physical ailments. Did we really need to hear the filler material like Going Under (he more or less admitted it was filler!), Just awful. And why not mix up the Clutching songs with his solo stuff as he did 10 years ago? Incommunicado should have been the encore (again from what he said, even he knew that). The solo material was uninspired, just like the performance. I just wanted it all to end, it was truly awful. Shame as I’ve always enjoyed his concerts in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A man up to his old tricks Absolutely fantastic. Although not in the best of health Fish put on a terrific performance. At times you thought he was a man half his age bouncing around the stage. A frank, honest and straight up act. The support act was great too. I never heard of Doris Brendel before but bought one of her albums now and buying more soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FISH never fails to move the audience Well what else can you ask from this master of lyrics? Every song tells a story that stirs every possible emotion and with the old classics from the Clutching at Straws album being played the setlist couldn't have been better. The rest of the band was also really good and stuck to the performances on the record when playing Marillion songs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The mighty Fish does it again! We arrived to the support band on stage through the driving December rain, and wished we had got there sooner. Lazuli were just amazing, tight music, excellent sound quality and the music spoke for itself. Innovative modern prog rock, and the crowd just loved them. When they went to go off, the crowd just wanted more but alas they had to leave. As for Fish, he was his usual acerbic self, and it was great to hear not only Clutching at Straws in its entirety but also some of the new tracks from Feast of Consequences - highlight was the last song The Great Unravelling for me. He never disappoints the Fish Heads - thankyou Big Man!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I only waited 29 years ... So I started listening to Marillion & Fish when I was 16. I'm 45 now. I shouldn't have waited so long to see Fish live. It was a total joy and the opening act, Lazuli were excellent.
