What people are saying about Frankie Boyle - Work In Progress

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A comic at the top of his game We attended Frankie Boyle work in progress for the second time. Our expectations were high. However, they were shattered as Frankie’s new material has no bounds or limits. Both shocking and outrageously funny. A man at the peak of his game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing 30mins from Frankie I didn’t realise this was a work in progress for the TV show rather than tour material. The warm up act was sometimes but also very hostile dealing with a drink heckler far too agressively when he tried to apologise. I expected more than 30mins of Frankie Boyle, plus most of the material he said had been cut from the TV show.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2.5 out of 5 I enjoyed Frankie's political, more intelligent jokes but it's a shame he often resorts to unintelligent, bad taste jokes, which punch down rather than up. Especially when he seems to have a sharp brain, capable of producing clever comedy, which could tackle political (etc) issues and mock those with the most power in a helpfully funny way, rather than mock those who are already vulnerable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expected I wasn't sure what to expect from this as it was an unusually early show which was only going to be a 45-minute performance from the legend that is Frankie Boyle. However I was not disappointed. The clipboard was quite novel and it felt like quite an exclusive thing with Boyle effectively brainstorming. It's a great venue too. I would highly recommend it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frankie was superb Better than normal stand up. Hearing him more relaxed and trying things out, was great. The support act before was funny, but 5-10 mins rather than 15-20 mins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New stuff, crude and funny This was as expected. Frankie trying out some of his new stuff and sometimes failing but often hitting the mark. These kind of gigs bring you even closer to the comedian as it's a bare all type of event where you're expecting bad jokes as well as the new great ones. Credit to the support act as well. She was extremely funny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hilarious Always been a huge fan of Frankie Boyle's and he definitely doesn't disappoint live. It was a lot more casual than a regular stand up show as he was testing out his material but that just made it all the more fun. Would highly recommend seeing him in this intimate setting over the next few weeks!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A very short 1st experience of a show Both comedy acts were good but sadly I was shocked by the length of the entire show: If the 1st of the 2 acts came on on the dot at 19:00, which I'm not sure happened, then the whole show was over and the audience were on their way out by 20:00, no attempt at an encore by the main act: Frankie Boyle, so I assume most people knew encores weren't on offer. I hardly had settled in my seat and it was all over. To be fair and for my first ever experience of a show of any type in London, I was quite shocked and disappointed. I checked my ticket for any mention of the entire show only lasting an hour but no there wasn't. Had I known I would have reconsidered buying a ticket at all as with train cost added, it made around £25 for a 1 hour event, not really value for money.
