What people are saying about Gardens Illustrated

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very interesting and informative day out The talks by the nursery staff and garden designers were very interesting and informative. I enjoyed the relaxed and informal approach to the day but although all the speakers were very knowledgeable and informed they did seem slightly unprepared for their talks - some visual examples/plans or photos of their previous works would have enhanced the audience's enjoyment . The lunch was good but not very extensive considering the price of each ticket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What an inspiring place! I joined the Gardens Illustrated trip to Hortus Loci, which was just delightful. So many wonderful plants, so much knowledge! A really inspiring day and great to hear of the trials and tribulations of sourcing and growing such a selection of show garden plants. Great lunch too and someone had the foresight to order excellent weather. Well done that person.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly enjoyable It was an informative and interesting day and I felt privileged to be able to see behind the scenes of this huge commercial nursery. Matt Keightley and Tom Massey spoke well about their journey to Chelsea as garden designers and I know my visit to the Chelsea Flower Show this year will be more enjoyable having attended the day. It was an exceptionally hot day but the organisers saw how uncomfortable it would have been to have the talk under cover and fortunately moved us outside.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not learn too much. Newer introductions of plants not really talked about. I enjoyed the morning, but would not go again as not very informative.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good in parts The conversation between Anna and Fergus was lovely and fascinating with great anecdotes about Christopher. There could have been more opportunity to ask questions but not a major gripe. On the downside we were disappointed with the lack of a welcome when we got there and no one to talk to or ask about proceedings or whether we could enter the house. Particularly disappointing was the fact that the cafe was closed despite this having been advertised in the programme as being open. We had to ask Great Dixter gardening staff who had to phone the Business Manager to clarify the position re the cafe. Also strawberries were few and far between with the scone.
