Not up to expectations
After a promising start to the evening, which we were looking forward to with eager anticipation, at the end of the concert we left feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
Much of our experience matched that of a previous reviewer. The Swingles at times were very entertaining but they would have been so much better with a few more familiar items included in their repertoire.
Gareth is a very talented musician with a pleasant void and a good stage presence, however, some of the items included, especially his own compositions, didn't seem to be quite right. In the 1st half there was an overlong section whist he and a couple from the Swingles tried to interact with the audience to compose a song using local phrases thrown out by the audience. This felt very much like filling time and the audience participation was Luke warm at best.
We are great fans of Gareth "The Choirmaster" on TV and of the various projects he has been involved in. We genuinely didn't know what to expect at his concert but having experienced an Evening with Gareth Malone, I am not certain it is something we would rush to repeat.
Mention should be made of the pianist and the Severn Trent Water choir, the latter being involved in a couple of items in the second half, as all where very good. Perhaps given what Gareth is well known for rather than trying to get the audience to participate he should have involved the choir more.

I was expecting choirs, orchestra, familiar tunes and to leave with a warm glow. We got just one barbershop type choir. No band or orchestra. Few recognisable tunes. Gareth on the guitar playing us a few of his recent cheesy compositions.

Gareth is amazing in concert not only is he an accomplished Chior Master he is an exceptional tenor singer and also has a presence on stage that is warm and personable
I saw his last two shows and he never dissapoints has a cracking sense of humour on stage and also gets his audiance to particapate with him by getting fans up on stage to sing
I would heartly rcomend Gareths concerts for a great night out, he is more than a chirmaster but an all round entertainer go see him for yourself
