What people are saying about HMLTD

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Gig Ever Was one of the greatest gigs ever, the only reason I have not given a 5 star rating is because I came out of the gig with a broken nose

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HMLTD One of, if not the, most fun and interesting concert I've ever been to. What a band.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HMLTD - multi Technicolor experience This gig was recommended to me and I went without really knowing the band well. Checked few of their videos and found them a bit too gory for my test, yet the music was good. Seeing HMLTD live was an unique experience though - they carry within their music a full cinematic rainbow - it felt like being on a surreal carousel. I thought that the setting with masks, blood, cloth sculptures and the tarots story were unnecessary and out of context. Their music is like David Linch film - rich enough on its own - the added visuals were just distracting. The lead vocalist is superb performer with great control over his voice, interacting with the audience perfectly keeping the energy and the vibe at top. The opening band for the gig Showboy were very good musically. The second act for the night failed to present themselves and I found them extremely boring. Overall it was great concert - I hope HMLTD clean their superficial "over-the-top" yet very much cliche look and concentrate on making quality music. I wish them longevity after that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lacking something. Not blown away, especially by all the newer songs. Nearly half the crowd had cleared out by the end. Possibly the venue didn't suit the style of performance? Just wasn't a very engaging set. The pretentiousness would be easier to forgive if there was genuine energy rather than noticeably self-conscious posing. Bands such as the Fat White Family have set a high standard and it's hard not to compare an act like HMLTD to them. Hope they find a way to replicate the sentiment of some of the great bands they're taking inspiration from rather than just the aesthetics.
