Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dragged on a bit.. Excellent first half, with anecdotes through Ian’s career through the years The second half descended into a seminar of every play Shakespeares ever written and long monologues form each. There was no structure and it didn't really make much sense

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IAN MCKELLEN ON STAGE LONDON - NOT TO BE MISSED No pre-conceived ideas about how he was going to entertain us for an evening. No worries - a blast from start to finish - challenging us to contribute - rewarding us with handfuls of sweets - educational - never realised Shakespear had written so many plays - his ability to verbally illuminate his participation in the many roles performed during his career - was a masterclass in memory and delivery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once in a lifetime chance to listen to a great actor What a star, not only a genuinely nice man, but a very entertaining and talented Individual. The show lasted for three hours and was a fantastic mix of humour, memories and a stupendous acting ability. I don't think this man is ever going to grow old gracefully- thank goodness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunningly honest and intimate. A joy to behold... When I saw this advertised, knowing that I was a big fan and so was my fiancée, it was a must purchase. Combine that with the considerable charitable works associated with the production, and there was absolutely no debate, even if it had to be put on the credit card. Refreshingly honest, and I hung on Ian’s every word throughout the show. At times very funny, incite-full at others, and on occasion a tear inducing performance. Ian’s perfect recall and unique interpretation were a marvel to behold. It made me realise listening to Ian’s love of all things theatre, why I was attracted to the same thing as a teenager, and relit those embers deeply buried within. It was a remarkable insight in to Ian’s journey as a human being. For that, i think all of us there were very privileged to be there. Absolutely amazing, and something i will cherish as a profound memory.
