Superb at the Shacklewell
Jilian Medford of Ian Sweet brought a full band with her for the start of a 5 venue UK tour for the first time and started off at The Shacklewell Arms in London. The style of the band is hard to pinpoint but perhaps a slightly grungy dream pop or indie pop aesthetic is probably a fair description, however whatever genre they are labelled is fairly immaterial as she and her band or simply stunning. There was a large crowd present and at the appointed hour she and her band started playing song after song of thoughtful, well written tunes that filled the venue to the delight of the crowd, it was all rather good. At the end of the set they left the stage and after a brief wait, not the tortuous 3 minutes many artist use, they returned for one more song to the appreciation of everyone present, overall it was a wonderful show.
Support was Brighton band Porridge Radio, a totally daft name which belied a seriously good band. They played for around half an hour and were very well received and are certainly worth checking out.
