Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indie Pop Perfection Kero Kero Bonito are an indie pop band who I had seen before at the Clash anniversary London Calling event where they played a short half hour set, they were very good so naturally went to see them again. The venue, The Electric Ballroom in Camden, was sold out with 1500 KBB fanatics present. As the time approached for the start of their set the crowd grew increasingly more vocal with their chants of “KBB” and then they entered the stage which resulted in a loud roar. Off they went with their singer Sarah exuding happiness like no other artist around. We were treated to a barrage of one song after another for 80 minutes, this puts many other artists to shame. Sarah has a surreal outlook on life it seems and she dedicated one song to all the fish in fish bowls in London! At the end of their set no one moved expecting an encore, we got one but the band clearly believe in cruel and unusual punishment as there was a wait of three minutes before they returned. There were two support acts, first the wonderful flugvél og geimskip who did a very unusual dj set, in fact one of the best I have ever seen and seems obsessed by spaceships and similar things. Then we had Chester band Peaness who are another indie pop band and well worth seeking out, they seemed overjoyed to be playing to such a large and enthusiastic audiience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great performance but the sound let it down Kero Kero Bonito had great energy and performance, I was expecting KKB to play their old songs in their old style however they adapted them to fit the sound of their new EP which was interesting to hear in a band line up. The the that really let the gig down was the sound. It was bad. All you could hear was the drums, the bass and the vocals (after the audience shouted for the vocals to be turned up).
