What people are saying about Laura Veirs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Possibly the best gig I have ever attended.... My first opportunity to see Laura live after getting into her music via Neko Case. Chose Cambridge (family home) as it seemed a good opportunity to take my mum to her first gig in many many moons, so it became a bit of a family outing with my sister tagging along, all in the knowledge it was likely to be a very diverse crowd. In short we were all utterly blown away! Alex was exquisite as Led To Sea, and set the tone of the evening beautifully, with the minimalist duo then giving gorgeous renditions of Laura's back catalogue. Both chatted and laughed with the audience throughout and it was almost painful when it came to an end. Laura and Alex then moved to their merch table to sell as much as possible from their little suitcase of goods, while chatting and meeting the audience. What a gorgeous evening! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laura Veirs and Alex Guy in Holly Trinity Church, Guildford Fantastic magical evening in an atmospheric church in Guildford. Laura was supported by very talented Alex Guy (Led to sea) on Violin. It was great to hear songs from Laura's extensive back catalog and well as her current album The Lookout. The songs and arrangements were expertly rendered despite there only being herself and Alex to perform. Like other reviewers, i cant understand why Laura is not more well know - she is an amazing poet and song writer. Really looking forward to her gigs back in the UK in February 19!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best gig perhaps in all time, including Neil Young, Grandaddy and Arthur Lee I first saw Laura solo in Newcastle with my daughter and knew that I would not miss another chance to see her perform. Her show in Glasgow this year was superb. Her rendition of her fabulous songs were brilliant. I am not an admirer of performances that replicate the CD version, but somehow she makes each song fresh. The backing band have to be praised also for their creative and sensitive contribution. I see that Liverpool is the furthest north next year, but I still may be tempted out of Scotland

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Americana songs I went to see Laura Veirs on a friends recommendation without knowing her songs. I was impressed by the quality her song writing and the band. The mid paced songs were built up nicely and picked up at the halfway point of the gig. The raw faster rock songs lost none of the baroque like harmonies. Encore covers of Grateful dead song Mountains of the moon and Daniel Johnston's True love were beautifully delivered. All in a brilliant gig and good vibes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laura and the band on great form! Considering Laura hasn’t been gigging recently the band was really tight. Most of my old favourites were included along with a few new songs due to be included in a new album. Don’t miss her when she comes back next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Queen of Indie Film music plays solid set at Dingwalls First got into Veirs music well over a decade ago and recently started re-listening to her after buying the sublime 'Case/Lang/Veirs' CD of last year (easily the best of 2016) so finding out she was in London briefly was a thrill, and she and her tight knit band didn't disappoint. A good selection of her material over the years was executed in style and substance, with her accomplices doubling up on instruments for certain tracks, this is a very skilful ensemble indeed. Can't figure out why her music isn't more popular, very talented musician and songsmith, the closest I've found to the legend that is Joni Mitchell. Looking forward to her new CD in the Spring and the tour that's promised to promote it.
