The first night of the 18th edition of COOLJAZZ welcomes on the main stage the legend of soul music Lionel Richie "An Evening with Lionel Richie" tour. “All Night Long", "Say You, Say Me" and "Dancing On The Ceiling" are some of the themes that mark the long and distinguished career of the artist and that we will hear and dance in this night. Filipe Karlsson opens the main stage this night, with his electrifying sounds, presenting his latest works. Cátia Ribeiro Quartet on stage at Cascais Jazz Sessions by Smooth FM, will present her jazz quartet. Her voice and musical versatility promise not to leave anyone indifferent.

Lionel Richie has a discography of unmatched albums and singles, with over 125 million albums sold worldwide. Lionel Richie was part of the band Commodores as vocalist and saxophonist, where songs such as "Easy", "Three Times a Lady", "Still" and "Sail On" were born. During his career, Richie won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, four Grammy Awards®*, was named the MusicCares Personality of the Year in 2016, a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2017, and most recently, he won the Gershwin Award for Popular Song by the Library of Congress and was recognized in the class Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022. Richie is currently a jury member at ABC’s American Idol, being present for the last 5 seasons of the show, and recently extended his "Back to Las Vegas" residence at the Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theatre.

Filipe Karlsson, with an unpretentious Pop Disc loaded with Groove, releases for the first time the EP "Teorias de Bem Estar" (2020). In "Modéstia à parte" (2020), the Portuguese-Swedish artist brings back the Pop Disc to his compositions and edits themes such as "Razão" or "A Paragem". Determined not to slow down the Disco rhythm in his musical universe, Karlsson edited "Mãos Atadas" (2022), the last EP of this trilogy of short durations.

Cátia Ribeiro Quartet performs on the Cascais Jazz Sessions Stage by Smooth FM. She began specialized studies at the conservatory of Guimarães in 2015. Later, she joined the Academia Valentim de Carvalho, and in 2020, she is admitted to the jazz and modern music degree at Universidade Lusíada. Since then, she has worked in several countries and with various backgrounds (Germany, Spain, England, Italy, among others). Her voice and musical versatility allowed her to conquer an increasing audience, making her one of the most promising artists of her generation.

COOLJAZZ has 3 concerts per night

It starts at 8 pm with Cascais Jazz Sessions by Smooth FM, then follows the First Concert on the main stage and ends with the Headliner Concert on the main stage. You can consult the festival schedule, at cooljazz.pt
