45 years and still excellent
I last saw Chicken Shack at my school in 1973 - they were amazing and Stan Webb was a young edgy guitarist with tonnes of charisma and talent. His charisma is still intact and so is his guitar playing - I'd listen to one Stan Webb for every 1,000 Red Butlers - every note Stan plays counts, is un-effected, just a Les Paul through a Marshall plus a Wah Wah pedal - modern guitarists are cowards who disguise their lack of feel behind a cacophony of homogeneous effects. Chicken Shack's bass player is proper too - the rest of the band is so so.
They played a lot of blues and shuffle, I would have preferred more balance with progressive numbers, but it was a great show and we all enjoyed it. Stan is a legend and didn't disappoint.
