4th 5th 11th & 12th August 2018
Two Weekends Of Mediaeval Mayhem

Now in its 7th YEAR

THE LOXWOOD JOUST - is the UK's premiere MEDIAEVAL FUN DAY OUT taking place at the enchanted Loxwood Meadow. The Loxwood Joust is the most spectacular mediaeval festival in the Realm with an unrivalled programme of mediaeval mayhem.

Step back in time and experience the verve and vigour of a world where lives were harsh and hearts were passionate at this unique, fun and educational day out for all the family!

Each day from 10am to 6pm. The Loxwood Joust's unrivalled programme of mediaeval revelry guarantees a day out like no other. A fast-paced, all action jousting tournament will amaze and astound whilst daring displays of weaponry, archery and cannon fire will enthral as fully armoured knights prepare to meet in a thunderous battle.

The main concert stage is where performances from the internationally acclaimed singing group the Mediaeval Baebes will enchant and soothe. Wander the massive Living History Village in the 'Mediaeval Meadow' - a totally authentic recreation of a mediaeval battle camp and browse the Mediaeval Market Place where traders and hawkers vie for your attention as companies of actors, wandering minstrels, the Court Jester and dance troupes entertain and delight throughout the day.

Try your hand at archery, sup fine ales and dine on local organic fayre while the little ones can enjoy their very own Children's Kingdom - a festival within a festival where the Mediaeval Groat is the currency! This "Mini Mediaeval Mayhem" includes Have a go Archery, Face and Wound Painting, Pelt the Peasant and "Sword School" where you can learn to be an apprentice Knight

And don't forget to visit "The Torture Zone in the Woodland" where you'll find Gilbert Savage, aka The Executioner, putting his new rack to good use. A replica of the real one that was used in the Tower of London, this gruesome assemblage of rollers, ratchets and metal framework just goes to show that creativity came in all forms during the dark ages and "The Mediaeval Gaming Zone" where you can try a few historic card games, play a round of chess or try your hand at Tafl - a strategy game from the Viking era.

What people are saying about Loxwood Joust

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Joust to predictable, mix up the Plot Queue for pre-paid tickets was moving too slowly compared to the pay with cash line. Firearms demonstration educational. Market excellent as always Lady who voices the re-enactment battle voice sounds dead and emotionless, no enthusiasm. Stage entertainments good as always. Joust it’s self was to predictable, you need to shake up the plot it’s been the same the last four years. Bring back the Red Knight from year 2 do something to mix it up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great day out Attend event with my family. The children loved the jousting and the battlefield re-enactmenthe both of which had good viewing. Exciting children's area with a variety of things to do. Super idea changing pounds for grouts however some of the activities were a little pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An outstanding day out! We went as a family Granny, Grandad, grown up grandson, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. Each and every one of us had the most enjoyable day which went way beyond any expectation we had of what we would experience. Everything - from the 'Try it yourself Archery' to the battles and the Joust were brilliantly entertaining, utterly professional and totally convincing that we were in fact in 15C England, particularly as so many visitors had entered into the spirit by dressing up as well as all those taking part, including every stall holder and demonstrater. My favourite was the Joust, my husband enjoyed the music and dancing in the theatre, grown up grandson enjoyed the battles, daughter and granddaughter enjoyed the witch and all the domestic arrangements of the 15C, son in law and young grandson loved everything! Will most definitely be back next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fab medieval day out Enjoyed this event immensely for the second year running. All the resonators were friendly and great to watch. The events through the day were great fun, just a shame we couldn't see it all! Weather was splendid as well which was jolly lucky. A fab day out with a mix of medieval and modern that was balanced perfectly. Will be going again next year!
