What people are saying about Manchester Music Tours

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nostalgic afternoon with great people We were lucky enough to be in Manchester on the weekend of the Mozbus tour and decided to join the fun. I am so very glad that we did as it was a fantastic few hours with some great people. All of the team involved in running this do a fantastic job from Rose Gill to the driver of the bus who was great with our young 8 year old Smiths/bus fan ;-) Morrissey and The Smiths mean different things to my partner and I and we both loved every moment of the tour. For me, The Smiths are a nostalgic connection to my very early childhood growing up in the South Manchester area and for my partner they are the sounds of a childhood in South America listening to British music on the radio. As you can imagine revisiting and visiting for the first time was a fantastic experience shared with a great group of fellow Smiths fans on the bus. John Robb was a fantastic tour guide who had time for everyone and I have always enjoyed his work, Rose was very sweet and accomodating with my pregnant partner and all of the team involved made this a trip to remember. We hope to be back to do the Oasis & Joy Division tours one day.. if you are considering taking this tour you really should as the insight and local knowledge is second to none. Thanks again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! The Mozbus tour just gets better and better! It's always a pleasure and it's loads of fun to learn things about Manchester (and Morrissey) that you may not have known before. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Tour of Morrissey’s Manchester The tour saw us visit iconic Manchester locations made famous in the story and lyrics of The Smiths. We visited Salford Lads’ Club, Strangeways Prison and the house Morrissey lived in when the band were formed. John Robb provided the historical background from his Manchester encyclopedic brain. A wonderful afternoon spent with fantastic people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful Smiths/ Morrissey tour This was a fantastic afternoon visiting notable landmarks of The Smiths and Morrissey. The tour was wonderfully narrated by John Robb, Rose Gill & John, who were great, really friendly and knowledgeable hosts. The highlights of tour included visiting Salford Lads Club, Kings Road & Holy Name Church. I’d definitely recommend this tour to any fans of The Smiths and Morrissey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful way to see important music heritage sites I always knew the tours were brilliant having seen them in action and having done a walking tour of town with Craig RIP. Being local I'd never really done touristy things but thought I'd surprise my husband. I'm so thrilled we did it! Being a Mozarmy special we were on an old red bus, so fitting when we were visiting areas from when Moz was growing up...so being on a bus reminiscent of the 60s and 70s was an unspoken nod to the black and white town of old. Being with fellow fans made it even more special; we all have our tales of how we found Moz and The Smiths, we all need to worship at shrines we've heard of in songs or seen in photos. The love on the bus was palpable between an eclectic mix of young and, ahem, older; those from near and those from thousands of miles away. As a Manc I watched in wonder as foreign fans photographed Strangeways and The Ritz, places as familiar to me as my face in the mirror (though I've only been inside one of these establishments!!) However I understood their awe when casting an eye over Moz's old house (I'd rather not go back) and the iron bridge. I remember a similar bridge from my childhood in Salford and how big it seemed, and the memories I retain from those seemingly unimportant times that live on, reminding me of the people I crossed it with and where I'd been. More impactful than you think, those old bridges. Salford Lads Club. What a special place it has in my heart, my wedding venue. How lovely to step back inside, smell the sa me scent, see the wonderful volunteers who I'm sure spend more time there than at home. All the while John Robb is telling us facts about the areas we pass, the landmarks we attend, and about him. I learnt a few things on the tour. Wonderful Rose curated alongside John, how I admire her strength and resolve in starting up the tours again. Amazing woman. And a lovely surprise at the start, a send off by Clint Boon. There was nothing negative about the trip and I'd implore everyone to do it! The camaraderie and simplicity and organisation made it a trip to remember. Thank you, Rose xxx

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Memorable afternoon If, like me you're a music nut, then do yourself a favour and book one of these tours. We did The Smiths tour on on a beautiful cold and snowy day, that took in the sights of the bands iconic and referenced places-Salford Lads Club, Strangeways, as well as Mozza's house. The staff at the SLC were so friendly and welcoming, explaining the interesting history of the place and the impressive work they do for their community. Our tour guides Rose Gill and John Robb looked after us so well, and I found them very easy going and a good laugh. John's knowledge of music is amazing and kept us amused and entertained with his stories. Big thanks to them both, and also to the bus driver who whisked us around town! Would love to see "The Fall tour" added in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ace day.. Arranged this tour for my friends 50th. It was absolutely brilliant. Rose went out of her way and arranged a personalised cake for my friend which they had set up for us at the tea room at the Salford Lads Club and even sorted balloons to take on the bus itself. Only 13 of us on the tour which made it so much more personable. All the iconic Smiths and Morrissey detail and locations covered and the team at Salford Lads were brilliant, a credit to the history of Salford! It was so insightful and John Robb enhanced the overall experience with some of his stories and personal experiences. I’d highly recommend this tour to any Smiths/Morrisey fans. You absolutely will not be disappointed.. Thanks to Rose, her daughter, John Robb and all the team at Salford Lads for making the experience extra special. Sinéad

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great way to see Manchester On Saturday 15th December 2017 I went on the Oasis Tour, and after a couple of early hic-ups I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Our tour bus arrived a little late, but we were entertained with acoustic interpretations of Oasis tunes by a guest guitarist and a DJ set by Clint Boon. The bus was a classic ‘open back’ affair, chilly (it is December in Manchester) but a great experience. Unfortunately we hit road works and traffic (it is the second to last Saturday before Christmas). Nevertheless, we were soon at the site of the Boardwalk, then off to Johnny Roadhouse Music and then on to Burnage, the streets the boys grew up on, and naturally to Sifter’s record shop. The tour was a trip down memory lane and a chance to contextualise the music that we love and listen to. John Robb was our guide, he was friendly, approachable and knows Manchester and its music inside out. I had a great time being driven through the streets of Manchester, nostalgic on so many levels. Good luck on future tours.
