This practical four-day course is a great mix of the practical with theoretical.
For the first two days you will explore the history of medicinal plants and botanical gardens from a European context, from the 1st Century AD to the present with Letta Jones, Lecturer in Horticulture and Garden History Practical plant identification and a garden walk is included.
In the second part of the course, you will work with herbal specialist Maria Vlotides, and learn about the practical side of using herbs and plants in your own lives, creating your own remedies to take home.
Since 1673 Chelsea Physic Garden has occupied four acres of land on the edge of the Thames. First established by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in order to grow medicinal plants, this extraordinary garden in London has had wide reaching impact around the world.
The Chelsea Physic Garden is London's oldest botanic garden and contains a unique living collection of around 5,000 different edible, useful and medicinal plants that have changed the world.
