The greatest Dream Theater concert that ever was, and certainly that ever will be
There are simply no word to explain how magnificent this concert was. Mike Portnoy not being in Dream Theater is one of the greatest travesties of our time and the chance to see him play these songs once again is something that will stay with me forever. The musicians he paired up with are simply unbelievable (although not as great as watching Petrucci and Myung) and the singer is much better that Labrie. Labrie has always been the weaker part of DT, so to hear these songs sang by someone who can actually sing was a special treat.
The song selection is too mind blowing to even get into it, let's just say it was almost perfect. Almost, because we needed at least another hour of show to even touch the surface of what was missing from the setlist. I wish they would have played Instrumedley to span a few more so songs and records. The show focused a lot on Scenes form a Memory (which is not a bad thing at all!!) but neglected a lot of other stuff. "H***''s Kitchen" and "Stream Of Consciousness" would have made this the greatest concert of all time, but I'm nitpicking here.
Simply put this was the best Dream Theater concert there ever was, even though there was only one (and arguably the most important) member of DT on stage.
And since, in my opinion, Dream Theater ended in 2009, this was without any shadow of a doubt the best DT concert that ever will be.
Thank you Mike, really, THANK YOU.
