Molly Magnificent at the Moth
The Moth Club in Hackney was packed with a full house crowd who had come to see Berlin based Swedish synth pop artist Molly Nilsson. It would be hard to imagine anyone to be disappointed as she played a fabulous set for almost an hour and ten minutes. Being synth pop we only had Molly on stage as all the sounds came from an electronic box of tricks, this did not matter as everything was terrific with a sea of wonderful sound engulfing the crowd to everyone's delight. Each song was introduced by Molly with a balance of old and new in her inimitable deadpan delivery, I suspect this is a Scandinavian thing. There was no encore but after 70 minutes one really was not needed.
Support was from Skiing another Berlin based artist. He had a base guitar and a laptop but also had a very effective video presentation to accompany his 30 minute set, it was all rather polished and went down well with the crowd. He is an artist well worth checking out.
