Manchester should be proud.I have seen a lot of bands live over the years, and you know when you have been witness to something special. To have that euphoric feeling still running through you the next morning. Last night I saw MONEY, in a pub in Cardiff with around 40 other people. I am amazed but very lucky they played somewhere so small, and that the placed wasn't packed out. I saw and heard a band that will go on to be very significant if there is any justice, This new LP is going to be in many peoples top albums of the year, its already on mine. It breaks your heart with its honesty, and has the melancholy prevalent in some of the greatest songwriters ever. Jamie Lee has a voice with such a range of emotion in it, that he sounds like a Northern gospel singer, ripping out his heart and soul for redemption. live his voice is raw and powerful, and angelic all within one song. its riveting, electric, and i was awestruck. This is such an uplifting and euphoric set of songs. don't be put off by the title or cover, this has echoes of Manchester gone by, through joy division, smiths, echo, roses, and the soul and blues of bands like (early) verve and spiritualised. A stonewall classic to go with the very best of these bands. I haven't felt this way leaving a small gig like this for a long time, and those gigs were bands who all went on to do amazing things and got very big. I hope MONEY achieve success, and deserve a bigger stage, but selfishly part me wants them to be ours alone.
