More Information about Nine Below Zero

One of the UK's finest Rhythm & Blues Bands, Nine Below Zero, formed in 1979 and named themselves after the famous Sonny Boy Williamson song. In 1980 they signed to A&M Records and released the seminal "Live at the Marquee" album. By the end of that year they had moved from selling out the Marquee to selling out the Hammersmith Odeon. In 1981 their first studio album "Don't Point Your Finger" and the band made appearances on the Old Grey Whistle Testand the South Bank show. In 1982 they appeared on "The Young Ones" with the track "Eleven + Eleven" before releasing arguably their finest album "Third Degree" which features such tracks as "Wipe Away Your Kiss" & "You Can't Say Yes And You Can't Say No". The album's iconic image was taken by none other than David Bailey. Nine Below Zero have shared stages over the years with Chuck Berry, The Kinks, The Who, Eric Clapton, & Squeeze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9 Below Zero at the HUB plymouth 9 Below Zero at the HUB in plymouth delivered and awesome rocking set of rhythm N blues and Motown. Consummate performances by all the band members, great musicianship and cheeky patter and great guitar by Dennis Greaves. A refreshing sharing of the vocal duties with the raucous harmonica player Mark Feltham and the adorable Charlie Austin [Charlie also performed a set of her own excellent original songs as support with wit and expertise] . The gig was well attended though there could have been more, but nevertheless the band brought their own vibe and atmosphere which lifted the plymouth crowd to dizzy heights. It was great to see a really professional band doing something that they obviously really enjoy doing & really know how to do. I'd never been to see 9 Below Zero before, and went of a whim, and it was a darn good hunch coz they were fabulous and I'd recommend anybody to check them out. A plug for the venue also, the sound was excellent !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blues n Banter A great night of blues music as usual with Dennis on top form with his witty banter and great sounding geetar, award winning harmonica from the inimitable Mark Feltham, and some new additions in the form of sax, trumpet, and backing vocals, adding a new twist on some of the old 9 Below Zero tunes, and showcasing some of the new album in between. Top night out with a top act.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NBZ a nice family affair After first seeing NBZ at Newcastle Uni in the late seventies kicking butt I was expecting much of the same thing nearly forty yours on but tonight not the case. Brass section in tow and a young Miss Greaves giving the blues the woman's touch took us die hard NBZ fans by surprise. With Dennis and Mark at the helm they stormed a great set. I saw them in Gateshead a couple of years ago and thought they looked jaded and bored but they have turned it around and they all looked a lot happier last night.
