★★★★★

"Remarkable. Captures the humour of everyday life."

Evening Standard
Following a smash hit sold-out run at the National Theatre, Nine Night, Natasha Gordon's "remarkable debut play" (Evening Standard) transfers to the West End this December. Roy Alexander Weise directs this touching and exuberantly funny exploration of the rituals of family.

Family, food, music and mourning.

Gloria is gravely sick. When her time comes, the celebration begins; the traditional Jamaican Nine Night Wake. But for Gloria's children and grandchildren, marking her death with a party that lasts over a week is a test. Nine rum-fuelled nights of music, food, storytelling and laughter - and an endless parade of mourners.

What people are saying about Nine Night

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best play in years. I heard at lot about this play so took my 16yr old daughter along. We were not dissapointed The play took the audience through many emotions. Laughing with familiarity with the cast ,scenes and script through to tears once the heartache and years of pain unfolded. Thoroughly enjoyed would strongly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Jamaican patois was too strong so try as we might we could not hear what Maggie was saying. The Jamaican patois was too strong so we could not join in with the laughter because it passed us by. Although the aunt's acting was outstanding. The Play was enjoyable and all the actors good.
