What people are saying about Olafur Arnalds

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mesmerising musical experience Mr Arnalds is a huge musical talent, but he also took the time to speak to the audience and interact with warmth and humour. It made the whole experience feel like a privileged glimpse into the creation of his beautiful music. I would highly recommend seeing him live. Brilliantly supported by Lisa Morgenstern at Leeds Town Hall. She’s one to watch out for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the most unexpectedly intimate concerts Olafur has a rare ability to convince that he, and his band, play FOR the audience; that night in Leeds, exclusively for us. I say it is a rare thing to witness, for often bands that you see in the middle of their tours seem to play for playing's sake, likewise, not connect to each city's audience in any candid way and leave you with a mere enjoyment of live music, nothing more and nothing less. But in Olafur's concert, one could hear the intimacy (musicians performed with great musical and emotional integrity), feel it (I saw a few teary faces; I was no exclusion), see it (with the help of incredibly in-sync lighting) and even connect to it (Olafur open-heartedly told us, I believe, exclusive stories about writer's block, his self-playing pianos and challenges during the recording process of his new somber album). I left the hall with a soft inner smile and was full of thankfulness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, calming and emotive I'd been wanting to see Olafur Arnalds for a while and missed the chance on the last show he did in London so when these came up I had to grab them. It was such a beautiful experience, being eased into such a calming atmosphere with all the layers of sounds, the rhythms, the lighting, it was mesmerising. I found myself at some moments smiling and feeling moved at others. Olafur also has a genuinley natural gift for making people laugh with his words. A very beautiful experience i hope you experience again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply stunning Beautiful music, with every tune more captivating than the last. The piano and string arrangements on Ólafur Arnalds latest album are breathtaking. All of that was teamed with a lighting arrangement that perfectly complimented the music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Gig! I expected this performance to be good but overall it was exceptional! Lots of talent at a fabulous venue. Thanks. It was a privilege to attend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic gig with a ending to break a heart I traveled down from Lancaster on my own. Always wanted to see Ólafur Arnalds live. I must say, this was one of the most heart warming gigs I have ever been to. Olafur played all my favourites especially "Doria". Viktor's Solo on the violin was a fantastic addition to the set list. The lighting, along with dry ice, created a wonderful atmosphere and all musicians performed beautifully. Definitely going to see Olafur again in the future. Such a good gig. Only one disappointment. It would have been great to buy some merchandise after the gig or even a meet and greet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great venue, fantastic performance, sadly spoiled by noisy, drink-thirsty viewers. Alberts Hall is a top venue and acoustically it's just perfect for live music performances. It sets the right mood, the view of the stage is the best from the upper seating area and love what the lights' work each time we attend. Olafur was brilliant! Not only he gave a great performance, but did not disappoint with witty storytelling in between. However, the whole experience got spoiled by constant murmur and noise caused by people walking past to either use toilet to get a drink. I mean let's face it if you're coming to see this type of musical performance, that is more ambient and acoustic then maybe the bar should be shut during the actual performance and perhaps venue staff could remind people of being quiet to let others enjoy it. I'm pretty sure that the artists have heard the same noise and would not have appreciate the continuous migrations to the bar just to get a drink. Maybe music goers need reeducating on concert etiquette, it does go a long way...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite Icelander The Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh is a stunning venue apart from the awful seating, flat floor and what looked like waiting room chairs. I came out with a sore neck and back and I don't think I was the only one. Roll on March till we can see him again with comfortable seating in the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. The seating aside the concert was great, Olafur was brilliant as usual. He should maybe not make the comment that "Edinburgh is much prettier than Glasgow" with a quarter of the audience from Glasgow, lol. It was funny though. On my ticket it told me the doors open time but not when the concert actually started. I was sitting on those seats for 90 mins more than I needed to, just saying!
