Just announced - Toby Stephens to play the role of social-scientist Terje R?d-Larsen, with Lydia Leonard as his wife, diplomat Mona Juul and Peter Polycarpou as Ahmed Qurie, the former Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority in Oslo. The 2017 Tony Award? winner transfers direct from a critically acclaimed sold-out run on Broadway for a strictly limited season. In 1993, in front of the world's press, the leaders of Israel and Palestine shook hands on the lawn of the White House. Few watching would have guessed that the negotiations leading up to this iconic moment started secretly in a castle in the middle of a forest outside Oslo. Oslo tells the true story of two maverick Norwegian diplomats who coordinated the top-secret talks and inspired seemingly impossible friendships between Israeli, Palestinian, Norwegian and American people. Their quiet heroics led to the ground-breaking Oslo Peace Accords. Multi award-winning director Bartlett Sher's thrilling production of J.T. Rogers' (Blood and Gifts, The Overwhelming) critically acclaimed new play Oslo sets a deeply personal story against an epic historical landscape. Soon to be made into a major feature film, this darkly funny and sweeping new work comes to the West End following a run at the National Theatre. The National Theatre present The Lincoln Center Theater production of Oslo. Produced in association with Ambassador Theatre Group/Scott Delman. 'A must-see'- The Times 'Can we make peace with enemies? Oslo gives us hope' - New York Daily News 'The stuff of crackling theatre' - New York Times 'Bartlett Sher's striking production of this compelling drama' - Variety

What people are saying about Oslo

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Certainly my favourite play of the month! With an excellent cast and a theme of international significance, this play gripped me from the outset! The tension built up steadily, yet I laughed out loud at several moments, and enjoyed the deft handling of the ‘story’, starting in the middle and then filling in. I was left almost unable to breathe, and certainly unable to speak for several minutes after the end. How apt that the lady sitting next to me should breathe in my ear: ‘This is so much more than a play!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A delightful play This is a play whose subject is one which could have been very heavy going and one which I might have avoided but it so brilliantly done that it is very entertaining and engrossing. Surprising for such a serious subject, particularly as it based on real events, there is lots of humour and it had the whole audience laughing. The play is so superbly crafted and acted. This together with the timing of the humour enlivens and breaks up what could otherwise have been very "stodgy" and creates a very memorable, delightful and entertaining but thought provoking play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent on all levels Gripping, brilliantly acted by all cast members, funny, emotional-all in all a thoroughly great play about a thoroughly awful reality. Couldn’t recommend highly enough
