What people are saying about Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unexpectedly fabulous Hackett is a genius guitar player and arranger! Playing the whole of genesis selling England by the pound along with original and other genesis hits the set was fantastic- he manages to produce faithful interpretations that sound bang up to date! The band is exceptional - able to recent genesis and hackers own band from his back catalogue

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoying England by the Pound..... Excellent gig, the Spectral Morning and the Edge of Light stuff that started the show was faithful to the recorded albums and in retrospect was more Genesisy than I recalled - certainly the opening 'riff' of Every Day could have come from the 'Selling...' sessions ( did it ? ) The highlight was of course the 35 minutes-ish of the classic Selling England by the Pound, something I hadn't seen on its contemporary tour, not that it was played in its entirety then. However, rude shock during the delicate English whimsey of 'I Know What I like in your 'Wardrobe' the sax player launched into a cliched jazz funk passage with the bass player.... Hideously incongruous and the only wrong foot of the evening by an otherwise immaculate band. That passage could have been inserted into the encores - perhaps Dancing on a Volcano - where it would have done little harm. As it was it jarred painfully - a bit like a blast of 'Anarchy in the UK' in a piece of Mozart - the real sin being it had absolutely no context and so was the proverbial sore thumb. But that apart - and if you havnt seen this incredible show and you can still get a ticket - then I urge you to do so, it'll be the best money that you've spent on music this year ! Or next, unless you're going to see the 'Seconds Out' tour.... :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was a very good concert with exceptional musicians I went with my wife who wasn't as keen on the music as me. She liked about 50% but agreed the musicians were excellent.
