We took the plunge and decide to sample some of the new acts performing in the Northern Quarter of Manchester on monday night and had heard good things about Jimmy's Bar and some of the local acts that perform there ,From the outside the venue looked a little rundown but don't let that put you off as once inside its a totally different world , Vibrant and a real buzz in the air , Excellent range of Beers and staff that know what they are doing !
On to the gig the basement where the bands were performing had a great atmosphere and the sound engineer really knew his stuff creating a superb balance and level the filled the area without leaving you with bleeding ear drums !
Acts : Opening Act was a group called the Cottons being the first Act can be difficult to grab the audience attention but these guys really set the pace for what was to follow and soon had the crown in the palm of their hand .Nice balanced set list with some catchy and memorable tunes .
Act2 Izzy Naimski if the first act was good these guys took it up a notch higher which lets face it you don't often see on a showcase night the quality and thought behind the songs was thought provoking and very listenable .
Act 3 Lucy Lagoon , What a great performance really liked the reggae undercurrent and the whole sound ,
Act 4: The finally the Headline Act Swamp Chicken totally unsure what to expect and from the opening chords of the lead guitar the whole place erupted to a fusion of Funk and lyrics and awesome tracks , catchy and unique a vocalist that can hold the notes and sing clearly ,A base guitarist that can drive the rhythm with a drummer who equally complements the sound and beat , But the lead guitarist is off the scale and the quality and Chic'est style shows the influence of Nile Rogers with some unique twists that work really well .The setlist flowed really well as the set list progressed rising and dipping slightly in tempo which lead nicely into the last track which connected so well with to audience as fans sang along to ,its catchy its danceable its a great track 'Shapeshifter '
