Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favourite gig of the year I went to see Swim Deep because they're one of my favourite bands and I thought that they preformed amazingly and that the crowd was sick, I can't wait to see they gain when they support Wolf Alice

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soul Trippin Birmingham five-piece Swim Deep left what can only be described as a truly lasting impression after their show at renowned intimate Sheffield venue The Leadmill. With recently released album "Mothers" floating in the rafters, I wasn't quite sure what to forecast, but they lived up to expectations and more... Fronted by Austin Williams, their set transported the audience into an ethereal otherly world with their dreamy sounds. Displaying clear influences from psychedelia combined with lyrics laced with everyday relatable realism, Swim Deep's sincere performance had the audience captivated. The Brummy boys moved from jovial, uplifting high notes and sweet cheerful melodies such as "She Changes the Weather," culminating in much deeper, more melancholy- yet still meaningful sounds. Their clearly thought out juxtaposition of highs and lows took the audience on a journey, displaying Swim Deep's unadulterated talent. Having seen them previously at a festival last summer, I can only say, the boys seem far more at ease in a more closely acquainted venue. Their heartfelt, raw performance left the audience hungry for more, as they heckled the band for an encore. Which they provided with a dream-like elongated rendition of "Red Lips I Know." Still currently quite a small band, with an evidently huge cult following, make sure you catch Swim Deep next time they come around, as my prediction is, they will soon lose the intimate magic of being a smaller venue band.
