What people are saying about The Big Moon

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still one of the best live bands you will see Why this band don't get more credit than they do. I don't know. Both times I have seen them live, they were tight and a great sound. Their new material sound good too

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Casual gig Loved the big moon performing, as usual the gig felt casual- a little too casual with some tech difficulties- but nonetheless love the aesthetic of a chilled entertaining night of music. Would go again, one of those bands you just fall in love with live

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Band of the Year We travelled from Uxbridge and Brighton respectively to meet up and see The Big Moon for the second time, and they didn't disappoint. Despite technical issues for the first couple of songs, the band played a great set full of energy and enthusiasm. Loved the way they dealt with the "idiot". If you were there, you will know what I mean. If indie rock is your thing, it doesn't get much better than this. A refreshingly new vibe with songs written to be played at much bigger venues. I can't wait to see how "Bonfire" goes down at a stadium. I'm 54, and it's hard to get enthused by too much nowadays, but there I was in the mosh pit with my daughter. At the end I could wring my t-shirt out. I just hope they can keep it up with the tricky second album.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Moon will be very big This was my first time at The Loft in Southampton. It is a very small, intimate and charming venue that makes you feel as if you are on stage with the band, or so lead guitarist and vocalist Juliette Jackson must have thought when she joined the crowd at one point. Juliette's dry humour comes across in the vocals, especially on songs like "Cupid". Add some great interplay with guitarist Soph Nathan, bassist Celia Archer and drummer Fern Ford and you have a very tight and talented set of musicians. This year's Mercury Music Prize nominated debut "Love in the 4th Dimension" shows a talent for songwriting that will hopefully blossom into something very special. "Formidable", "Sucker" and "Cupid" are already catchy and interesting enough to be considered Indie Classics, if such a thing still exists. A lot of the crowd already knew the words and they also joined Juliette in a great rendition of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". There was an overwhelming sense that the band was having as much fun as the crowd - keep smiling girls and the world is your oyster. The Big Moon will not be playing small venues like this next time around so this was a real privilege. Great support from Get Inuit too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Big Moon lights up Stoke Second time I've seen the Big Moon at the Sugarmill, having followed them since I caught them in an early "BBC Introducing" video. Once again they didn't disappoint. Their songs contain wonderful melodies but also feature great contrasts as quiet beginnings burst suddenly into phases of energetic guitar. Simply the best Indie band around at the moment, exemplified by their much deserved short-listing for this year's mercury awards. Shame the gig wasn't sold-out but everyone there seemed impressed. Get Inuit provided solid support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Mysterines I actually went to see one of the support acts, The Mysterines, not The Big Moon. The Mysterines were brilliant, but as a support act only played for 20 or 25 minutes.
