What people are saying about The Gloaming

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must see unmissable event Went with a friend Had originally heard about them from family in Ireland who had seen them there and I then subsequently bought their albums Totally brilliant, spellbinding. ..I just wished it could have gone on for longer and was only disappointed they didn't play one of my favourite songs which is on their 1st album My friend loved them also

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sublime fiddlers.... Martin Hayes did not disappoint. Sublime playing coupled with a gentle personality makes him a rarity in the music industry. His fellow fiddler was amazingly talented too. The Gloaming is a unique fusion of Celtic music and Gaelic song with powerful and emotive moments that lifts the spirit. The experience would have benefitted with smiles from Dennis Cahill and the pianist not reading his mobile phone!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The very essence of Irishness musically The Gloaming have performed their new album which they launched on th night at Union Chapel. They were utterly amazing as they reached into the resevoir of Irish musical culture from early times through to today and caught the very essence of Irishness musically but in a very 21st century way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two lumps of cool with your diddle-dee. The Gloaming at Union Chapel: two things of exceptional beauty, combined to form an inevitably delightful experience. At times, whilst listening to the virtuosi folk fiddle & guitar entwining with the fiery jazz piano & the caressing sweetness of Iarla Ó Lionáird's voice, it was hard to choose between shutting one's eyes and sinking into the music, or staring into the cavernous arches and stained glass of Union Chapel. Go see this band!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Gloaming are mesmerising. Union Chapel is a special venue and a great place to hear acoustic bands. Iarla's vocals are rooted in Irish folk singing, and he must be one of the best interpreters of the genre currently.
