What people are saying about The Horrors

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roade school 1987 15 years old and I had a few books thrown into my sports bag. Took the 20 minute bus ride to school. Met my friends in the usual spot, next to the humanities block. Bell rings, registration. 15 minutes of noise, ignoring the exasperated teachers creaking voice. A few more lessons broken up by a brief walk between classrooms. Lunchtime, chatting, birding, scrapping. The usual. Final bell rings, a thousand mental kids flinging themselves into overcrowded transport. Noise, smell, chaos. 30 years later the horrors play in Cambridge. Flipping excellent!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good night I went to this gig with a friend. One of my current favourite bands, in one of my favourite local venues. The band were on form and everyone there seemed to enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great live band This is the first time I have seen The Horrors live and they did not disappoint. They played 6 songs from the new album and didn't leave out the old classics. The venue was small, but the sound was very good and I do prefer more intimate gigs. I was surprised that The Horrors were playing a venue of that size. The support act, Baba Naga, who I had not heard before, were also very good and complimented The Horrors very well. I was very impressed by the lead guitarist, but to single one person out would be unfair as their set was very tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best live band around You won’t be disappointed if you see the Horrors live! They’re the perfect live band, lots of noise, fun and atmosphere along with a fantastic light show, there’s not a bad word I can say about them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Something to Remember Them By The Horrors are probably my favourite band and I was beyond excited to be seeing them in such a small venue. The sounded fantastic and - from what I could see of them through the flashing strobes and dry ice - looked fantastic too, at least in silhoette. Although clearly not one for witty inter-song banter, lead singer Faris Badwan remained a cool and charismatic presence throughout - and despite saying little more all night than "thanks for coming", was certainly in fine voice when it came to the songs. And what songs! Prior to the gig, I'd compiled a wishlist of songs I wanted to hear and - to my delight and amazement - was able to tick all but one of them off by the end ("World Below" was missing in action for some reason - such a great song - oh well!). It was great to hear so many tracks from "Primary", their second - and my favourite - album. Highlight of the night was "Sea Within a Sea" which sounded amazing and was only slightly spoiled by the couple behind me loudly and complicatedly arranging to go to a forthcoming gig throughout the quiet bits. "Something to Remember Me By" was the perfect upbeat encore and I was amazed (as I had been throughout the night) at how unmoved and unresponsive much of the audience were to the performance. Do people dance and sing along at rock gigs any more? Maybe they're too worried about dropping their phones to enjoy themselves. I'm not really one for taking films and photos at gigs myself, but I did get one souvenir: my night was completed when I managed to get a friendly roadie to grab me a set list from the stage - something to remember them by...
