What people are saying about The House Of Love

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The House of Love played in its entirety I followed this band more than any other in the 1990s ,even on their North American tour seeing them in Montreal Club Soda ,& Toronto RPM .Just wanted to relish seeing Bickers and Chadwick firing on all cylinders again and enjoying the adulation for their beautifully crafted songs. The crowd knew every word and the atmosphere was one of delight and total awe to relive it all.Terry Bickers seems to bring his wired dynamics from his Levitation days prowling the stage and stabbing his guitar in a frenzy ,only to cut to the most delicate fingerwork . Beyond the album they pulled such out such gems as Hannah ,I Don't Know Why I Love You,Beatles & The Stones ,Marble & Safe. John Peel's favourite ,Destroy The Heart amazes through its complicated changes and after the fragile beauty of Phone, Shine On is the fitting end to a glorious triumphant evening at the Roundhouse. A long journey home but a great feeling to still admire and embrace This incredible bands music after thirty years .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent band, expensive drinks... I went to the Boiler Shop in Newcastle (07/11/18) to see the House of Love with a couple of friends (note: this is my review, NOT theirs). I love the venue (I always have, even before the refurb'). The only problem is the price of drinks. This is not a complaint exclusive to the Boiler Shop either. The price of drinks at all music venues are ridiculous! As for the band (which was my friends choice), they were OK (only my opinion, guys). I really enjoyed the first and last songs and everything in between was a bit meh... However, I will say, after they had finished playing, the guitar player, Terry Bickers (a fine guitarist) spent quite a while taking pictures and taking with us and other fans, which was a nice touch...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 30 years again This was the 2nd 30 year anniversary event this week for me. Pixies at the Roundhouse was more of an event but if you loved 80s indie more than US alt rock then this was the place to be. You should all know the debut album and it was performed admirably. The band hit the heights for me after that with some great tracks from other recordings. Don't Why I Love You being the highlight for me. I don't think that they should give the second album the same treatment but if they stay together I will there for a ridiculously good back catalogue Shine on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from House of Love - Albert Hall Manchester Exceptional considering they'd been away ages, shame they're so underrated because they are one of Creations best acts.
