One of my favourite gigs this year so far
I had been looking forward to this gig since April when it was first announced ... and it did not disappoint. The room was full of friends and the atmosphere was lovely.
This was the first headline gig of The Mysterines, and I have no doubt that many, many more will follow.
The three support acts, Jack Haworth, an engaging poet with thought-provoking and often very funny texts, Shards and Monks were ace.
When The Mysterines came on, the room was filled to capacity. Their songs are expertly written and performed by Lia Metcalfe on vocals and guitar, George Favager on bass and Chrissie Moore on drums. George and Chrissie are the perfect rhythm section for Lia's songs, performed with so much energy that everybody in the audience is moving and bopping along. Many of The Mysterines' songs include guitar riffs that you can't get out of your head for days (well, I can't anyway). I could have listened to them for hours, but after an encore it was all over.
I can't wait for their next gig!
