What people are saying about The Orielles

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding An outrageously talented young band who effortlessly mix indie and funk and several other genres. The venue was jumping. Predict bigger things for them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Abysmal sound quality ruined it Great band with great songs whose live gig at Gorilla Manchester was completely ruined by a truly sludgy sound mix where vocals were barely audible. The perkiness of their songs were completely undermined. I can’t remember the last time I heard a PA this poor; but I suspect it might have been the late 70’s. With today’s technology there’s really no excuse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lively Night Great support bands and a modest sized venue gave rise, to a splendid live musical introduction of the Orielles. Great banter with the audience and tight timing from the band. Constant non-stop booming tunes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clever songs from this quirky trio I heard The Orielles on BBC 6 Music the night before, and noted they were playing the Leith Depot the next day. I hadn't been there before, but it sounded small, and I like watching bands in places like that. There were two support acts, both local. Quiet as a mouse was first on, and to be honest were a bit dull. The drummer was a bit out and that put me off them, but they picked up towards the end of the set, with some faster songs. Next on was The Snuts, young guys with swagger and attitude, but boy could they play! I was blown away to be honest. Although not really my thing they were pretty amazing, and despite some technical issues, they really won the crowd over. The Orielles came on pretty swiftly after and launched into a really great set, the guitarist was completely lost in the music headbanging like Angus from ACDC - I never expected that. The two sisters on bass and drums were solid as a rock, and although the songs seemed outwardly simple, there were loads of tricky time signatures throughout, which kept us all interested. It was all over too quickly though, and the audience didn't cheer loud enough for an encore even though they so deserved it. My new favourite band.
