What people are saying about The Sisters Of Mercy

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worst sound quality ever I’ve been a fan of this band for 30 years and, for some reason never seen them live, so I was incredibly excited to finally do so. However, the sound quality was utterly, utterly terrible. Given how distinctive Eldritch’s voice is, it’s a crime to have it so low in the mix. We could barely hear him about 50% of the time. The rest of the sound was pretty muddy, too. I went back to speak to the sound crew as so many people were complaining, but was met with complete resistance to doing anything about it. There is no way the venue itself can be blamed for this, as the support band sounded absolutely fine. Don’t get me wrong: I had fun - so much so that I fractured my metatarsal in the mosh pit. But that fun was down to the energy in the crowd and our mutual imagination as to what this gig could and should have been.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst gig I've been to for a long time Terrible sound, terrible lighting, charmless performance with new members looking way too pleased with themselves

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A band worth seeing, a venue worth avoiding Sisters of Mercy go back a long way for me. They were the first band I saw live back in 1991. I’ve seen them twice since. I can’t fault their performance, despite what people are saying about Andrew Eldritch’s vocals (it depends where you were standing). However, The Roundhouse is one of the worst venues I have been to for sound quality, You have to stand in one of a few small places to get a good sound. Otherwise the sound quality is awful. I could have put this down to the band, but it was the same for Machine Head when I saw them there, despite them being excellent performers (they were wonderful at the Eventim Apollo). As much as I love Sisters of Mercy, I will never go to see them at The Roundhouse as that venue does not deserve my money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unbelievably bad I was expecting a whole lot more than what I saw before me, like being able to recognise songs that I remember and loved with vocals. This wasn’t a night for anything like that. Temple of love only became noticeable when the two guitarist chipped in with the chorus, Eldritch was off stage more than he was on, this was probably one of the worst gigs I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to a lot. Don’t waste your money on a nostalgic trip back to listen to some great music, you won’t find it here I’m sorry to say

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sadly... So Disappointing I guess some things should be left as they are. I have so many amazing memories of Sisters of Mercy gigs in the 80s - from being supported by the Smiths at Brixton to Sunday night at the Lyceum on Strand. But the show at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm was a huge let down. Muffled vocals, not a word from the band and a set list that omitted songs like Emma and Some Kind of Angel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Voice shot... Truly dreadful. I really love the Sisters and this was a huge disappointment. All those cigarettes seem to have ruined Eldritch's voice. So sad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gig, shame about the sound quality Thoroughly enjoyed this gig. A great set list of songs. The music sounded great. The only problem was the balance of sound wasn't right, so we couldn't hear Andrew Eldritch's voice very well! Quite frustrating. The sound guys were right in front of us, so must have been hearing what we were hearing, yet didn't correct it. Great band though, and a pleasure to see.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cold-hearted Sisters Not their best gig. Not their fault that the theatre was hovering round 0°C. I don't know who's fault the poor sound was. I hoped to hear some faves. And I did. Although each track was nearly over before I realised what was being played. Best part of the gig was watching the lass with the mohican get right into it near the front. She made the night.
