What people are saying about The Smyths

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing performance, true to the Smiths Could've been at Top of the Pops circa 1985, stunned at the singer's vocal range.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Below average cover band As a Smiths fan I thought this would be fun. It turned out disappointing and hard work. The band are so up themselves I think they actually think they are way more than a below average covers band. Let’s just recap. The Smiths. Working class lads from Manchester that take on the music elite with a unique sound and attitude and lyrics that cut to the bone. Here we have a middle class Morrissey, a toe-tapping teddy bear on bass, the drummer looks insanely bored and the lead guitarist seems lost to a much better high than you’ll ever find here. They couldn’t cut water. The sound is passable in parts. It’s wedding band quality at best. The vocals try so hard to be forcibly Morrissey-esque but miss by a mile. The singer just loves himself oh-so-much. He woodenly flashes some slightly weedy middle-aged chest as if to disprove his wavering credentials. When his middle England soulless drawl intersperses the tracks it only serves to make you cringe. This is the antithesis of everything The Smiths were or ever will be. Not a repeatable experience. Just yet another miserable lie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bloody fantastic! Went to The Garage in Glasgow to see The Smyths with my nineteen year old daughter and it was brilliant. I've passed on my love of The Smiths to my daughter and, having shared my stories of seeing them live three times, wanted her to get a taste of what it was like. The Smyths were superb, playing the first album in it's entirety, then playing a succession of singles in the second half. The singer was excellent, the band excellent too and the whole night was a great experience. We will definitely be going to see them again.
